In In this project, we engaged in an intimate dialogue with the past by stripping the existing building to its essence, preserving its structural framework while shedding all extraneous layers. This meticulous act of deconstruction revealed the pure anatomy of the original structure, allowing us to rethink its potential.

To this preserved skeleton, we introduced a contemporary façade envelope, along with new internal partitions and building services. Within this renewed framework, we composed living spaces that are modern in function yet inherently respectful of the structure's original spirit.

Our design approach involved inscribing a new volume into the continuity of a singular façade. This quiet addition emerges not as a stark contrast, but rather as a resonant element that extends the building's narrative, weaving seamlessly into its historical context.

We carved deep incisions into the unified façade, creating gestures that not only disrupt the monolithic mass but also define expansive outdoor living areas for the inhabitants. These interventions invite interaction with the surrounding environment, fostering a sense of connection.

On the façade, we established a new structural rhythm—an array of openings that alternate in scale while adhering to a cohesive intent. This harmonious duality fosters a visual cadence, transforming repetition into ornamentation, wherein light is elevated to the role of architecture itself.

  • The existing structure

    The idea was to refurbish the existing supermarket to residential building.

  • Stripping the building.

    We stripped the existing building down to its essence, preserving only the structural framework. All other layers were meticulously removed, revealing the pure anatomy of the original construction.

  • Intruducing of new façade and new function

    To the retained structural framework, we introduced an entirely new façade envelope, internal partitions, and building services. Within this renewed skeleton, we sculpted living spaces — contemporary in function, yet respectful of the structure’s original spirit.
